Cardiology at Confraternität Private Hospital
The treatment of cardiovascular diseases has developed into a complex field in recent years. Here at your disposal there is a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, internists, vascular physicians and surgeons. This interdisciplinary cooperation and modern medical equipment form the basis for the rapid diagnosis and successful treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
The specialists will clarify the causes of vascular diseases and help early prevention of potential secondary diseases, from high blood pressure and coronary vessel ailments to heart attacks and strokes. Appointments can be made at short notice. Every treatment course begins with a detailed discussion with the patient. Specialists and attending doctors in our hospital take time to ensure that the patient’s physical and mental condition and risk factors are taken into account.
Confraternität Private Hospital provides modern examination methods to ensure most thorough diagnostics: electrocardiogram, telemetry, echocardiography examination, computerized tomography (128 line-CT), ultrasound and coronary angiography by means of heart catheter. These diagnostic tools provide information necessary for both non-surgical forms of treatment, which can be undertaken on an outpatient and inpatient basis, and any surgical interventions that may be required by the doctor of your choice. Diagnosis and treatment of arterial, vein and lymph vessel diseases include:
- Arterial occlusion
- Expanded arterial vessels
- Narrowing of the carotid artery
- Varicose veins
- Circulatory venous disturbances
- Leg ulcers
- Vascular involvement in diabetes mellitus
Cardiac Catheterization - Catheter Interventions
Heart catheterization is a procedure used to diagnose and treat certain cardiovascular diseases. The catheter – a long, thin tube - is inserted in an artery or vein in the arm or groin and guided through the blood vessels to the heart.
Using this catheter, doctors check the blood supply of the heart by the vessels. Some heart disease treatments are also done using cardiac catheterization. A series of interventions are realized in order to improve to blood flow to the heart:
- Coronary angioplasty (PTCA) – to open blocked coronary arteries
- Stent implantation – mainly by use of drug-eluting stents in order to reduce the risk of repeated stenosis
- Vascular interventions on peripheral vessels, kidney arteries, pelvic vessels and vessels supplying the brain
- Interventional electrophysiology: radiofrequency ablation in case of cardiac arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation
Catheterizations are usually associated with local anesthesia, and patients are awake during the intervention. Recovery time for a cardiac catheterization is quick, and there is a very low risk of complications.
