Cancer treatment in Austria
Cancer research is held in very high regard and has a long tradition in Austria. Austria is one of the countries with very good prospects for cancer patients, due to the very high availability of new methods and modern drugs, as well as a good hospital infrastructure.
Research into the molecular biological properties of tumor cells and tumor genes forms the basis of modern treatment strategies. Advances in science and medical practice have meant that the prospects for cancer patients are significantly better today than they were ten years ago. Long-term survival rates have improved considerably for most types of cancer. A permanent cure is also achievable in an increasing number of cases.
Well-coordinated cooperation of experts of various disciplines and professional patient management are crucial for successful treatment. At PremiQaMed Cancer Center patients are cared for individually by one specialist – usually a University professor - who is available to the patient from the admission for diagnostics until the end of the treatment course. Appointments can be made at short notice. Apart from the main goal – to overcome the cancer disease - preservation of affected organs and their functionality are also of great importance. Therefore, modern minimally invasive surgery methods are widely applied in the PremiQaMed Cancer Center.
